Anthony Jon Frank, MD, MBA, FACEP, CPE, FAAPL

Dr. Frank is an actively practicing, board-certified attending emergency physician with over 30 years of experience in emergency medicine. He is sub-specialty board-certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine (UHM), Wound Care, and Health Care Administration, Leadership and Management (HALM) by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs for UNC Health Blue Ridge as well as the Designated Institutional Official for their Graduate Medical Education Program.

Dr. Frank is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of South Carolina. He completed his Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2018 and is a Certified Physician Executive by the American Association for Physician Leadership.

Dr. Frank has extensive leadership experience in Physician Development, Leadership, ED operations, management and process improvement in complex healthcare organizations and across hospital systems in facilities and emergency departments ranging from 10,000 – 120,000 ED visits a year. Additionally, he has participated in the leadership of medical executive committees at multiple facilities and continues to develop regional systems of leadership and patient care integration within his healthcare system.

As a physician over the last 30 years, he has had significant opportunities to develop relevant experience in healthcare. He is a medical entrepreneur and constantly evaluates opportunities in emerging areas of medicine that lead to the enhanced care of patients and ways to modify the traditional medicine approach. One of these latest endeavors is the addition of functional and integrative medical practice to his training. Focusing on the whole patient with a lens toward the improvement of a patient’s diet, sleep and exercise as a foundation of therapy, he is committed with his clinic partner to improving the way health care is provided in a highly patient focused environment.
